THE EMPRESS CULTURAL CENTRE CORPORATION

The Empress Cultural Centre Inc. is a not-for-profit charitable corporation whose mission is to revitalize the former Cinema V located on Sherbrooke Street West at the foot of Notre-Dame-de-Grace (NDG) Park. Under an agreement with the City of Montreal, the Empress Cultural Centre members and board of directors are the stewards of the Empress Theatre building.

MISSION

Our mission is to revitalize the former Cinema V building at 5560 Sherbrooke Street West, and return it to full use as a cultural meeting place and platform for Montreal’s extensive artistic community. The corporation has a 60-year ownership agreement with the City of Montreal for this handsome landmark building. The ECC is dedicated to open dialogue with all stakeholders in the development of the Empress Theatre and committed to finding the best use of the existing building through outreach and facilitated dialogue with developers, arts entrepreneurs, all levels of government, and the cultural communities of greater Montreal.
